Unlock PDF

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Overview

Unlock PDF is a Chrome extension that removes restrictions and known passwords from PDF files. It is built to protect your privacy: the extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data.

Your files never leave your device

All PDF processing happens locally, inside your browser, on your own machine. Your documents and any passwords you enter are never uploaded to a server, never sent to us, and never shared with any third party. We have no servers that receive your files.

Data we collect

None. The Unlock PDF extension does not collect analytics, telemetry, usage statistics, or any personal information. It requests no host permissions and makes no network requests to transmit your data.

Local storage

The extension may store small preferences on your device (such as your chosen theme and interface language, and a local count of successful unlocks used to time an optional review prompt). This information stays in your browser’s local storage on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

This website

This website, including the onboarding page shown after install, does not use cookies or analytics of any kind. It never receives your PDF files or their contents.

Optional feedback

If you choose to contact us through a feedback form, you share only what you type into that form. Providing feedback is entirely optional.

Permissions

The extension uses the minimum permissions required to function (such as access to the side panel and local storage). It does not read the pages you browse and has no access to your browsing history.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
